Across the globe, individuals and communities are uniting in the fight for climate justice—demanding fair and urgent action to address the impacts of climate change on people and the planet. This movement calls for solutions that not only protect the environment but also uphold equality and human rights. Yet, the voices of individuals with disabilities are often missing from these critical conversations, even though they are among those most affected.
The new project ‘ChangeABLE - Out and About for Climate Ability’ funded by the Erasmus + programme of the European Union aims to change that.
The project team consisting of Global Action Plan Ireland, InEuropa SRL, agado - Gesellschaft für nachhaltige Entwicklung is joined by three organisations, which are experts in working with people with disabilities: COOPATTIVA Cooperativa Sociale Onlus in Italy, Prosper Social Care Services CLG in Ireland and die reha e.V. in Germany. All of them would like to put individuals with disabilities at the centre of climate advocacy.
Over the coming 3 years, we will work across three countries to:
Also, the project would like to foster participation of the target group in public forums and community events, giving individuals with disabilities more opportunities to share their perspectives and lead on inclusive climate solutions.
By the end of the project, participants will have the tools, confidence, and connections to advocate effectively for climate action that includes everyone. Moreover, practical guidelines and best-practice reports will help other organisations promote disability-inclusive advocacy themselves.
A movement is created where everyone’s voice matters in shaping a just and sustainable future.
